Role Description
We are looking for a highly driven Industrial Engineer to design and own the layout for our first-in-kind battery factory and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to start from a blank slate and use first principles fundamentals to design Form Factory 1 as a fully integrated product with the ambition to enable the most advanced high-volume battery manufacturing in the world. In this role, you will work with diverse cross-functional teams to integrate all aspects related to the factory layout and material and people flow analytics.
This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available.
What You'll Do:
Own the factory Plan of Record layout including manufacturing, material and people flow
Own the analytics and modeling to develop flow paths and aisle sizing for products, raw materials, and work in progress
Allocate, optimize space for production lines and other supporting functions to maximize operational and people needs
Orchestrate the stakeholders for space utilization through data-driven analysis
Develop material flow and layout metrics to drive factory efficiency with the cross-functional teams (manufacturing, operations…); optimize flow, inline and interline buffers/storage
Measure, establish and optimize capacity specs/targets (OEE and cycle times)
Densify the factory, eliminating non-value-add movement or processes
Distill many inputs into few: delivering world-class decision support for senior leaders and executives
What You'll Bring:
3 years of Industrial & Factory planning experience
Experience in layout design in manufacturing and warehousing
Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD, PDF drafting software (Bluebeam or similar)
Experience in material flow, capacity analysis and related software
Knowledge in OEE, capacity planning, cycle time analysis and line balancing
Experience doing the detailed analysis necessary to make data-driven decisions on warehouse or production line design
Track record of excellence in current and prior roles, demonstrable with metrics or KPIs
Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, presentation, summarization, etc.
Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
BS/MS in engineering or equivalent
