5. Monitor all inpatients on regular basis for infections and treatments completing the infection control form in each patient’s chart. This includes tracking all cultures done, organism growth, antibiotic sensitivity and notifying physicians if organism is not sensitive to the current antibiotic treatment.
6. Identifies, records and analyzes data and trends of hospital-acquired infections.
7. Monitors and follows up with employee illnesses.
8. Conducts meaningful quarterly infection control meetings.
9. Ensures that the monthly departmental infection control surveillance is done.
10. Monitors methods of asepsis, sterilization, disinfection and hand hygiene throughout the organization.
11. Provides in-services and new employee education in regard to prevention and control of infection.
12. Monitors necessity for isolation and use of proper isolation techniques.
13. Assists departments with proper infection control practices.
14. Verifies required communicable disease reporting to authorities.
15. Assists with follow up of exposure to blood and body fluids and/or infectious disease.
16. Participates in appropriate committees (internal and external).
17. Maintains patient and staff confidentiality.
18. Participates in performance/quality improvement projects.
19. Participates in Emergency Preparedness Committee.
20. Develops and submits to each surgeon their annual infection rate, this is coordinated with Surgical Supervisor. Ensure that Surgical Supervisor sends out to each surgeon and infection rate form.
21. Works closely with the providers, staff nurses, housekeeping and various departments throughout the hospital to promote hospital wide infection control.
22. Submits ILI weekly report to the State during influenza season.

C. Infection Control Week activities
D. Annual surgical infection rate
E. Data extraction from charts
