Information Technology Director establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies and goals for the information technology department. Analyzes the needs of different departments and determines ways to meet business objectives by modifying existing or developing new information processing systems. Additionally, Information Technology Director typically reports to a CIO. The Information Technology Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function.     JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer, the Director will lead dynamic IT department(s), ensuring that our technology infrastructure, applications, and data are reliable, secure, and capable of meeting the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff. The Director will oversee the development, implementation, and management of technology initiatives that support the educational and operational goals of the District. Working in partnership with the Office of Information Systems Leadership team to set technology direction, strategy, and vision for the District.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization.     Direct the design, implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and secure operations of infrastructure, security, and cloud services including, but not limited to, servers, storage, networks, unified communications, security cameras, OS patching, endpoint management, cyber security, disaster recovery/business continuity, service desk support, and device support and management.

    Direct the operations, support, and development of all off-the-shelf applications, internally developed software, and data. Support and develop applications, data interfaces, and configurations for all mission critical systems including, but are not limited to, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Student Information System (SIS), Student Special Programs, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Food Services, Business Intelligence & data warehouse, and Mass Notification System.

    Implement enterprise technology projects, directing requirements definition, development, validation, and ongoing maintenance activities. Plan, develop, supervise, and implement IT projects utilizing the established project management tools and techniques.

    Responsible for hiring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, and developing staff. Set goals and objectives for individuals and department teams. Motivate and mentor individuals and teams to meet objectives. Foster an environment that aligns to the District Core Values and the Information System's values.

    Manage technology assets and services including procurement, licensing, upgrades, and retirement.

    Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect data and systems from threats, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

    Develop and lead Process Improvement initiatives collaborating with stakeholders to identify areas where Information Systems can assist in problem solving or recommend solutions.

    Develop and enforce technology-based policies, standard operating procedures, service level agreements, and security practices and processes that promote best practices in technology use, ensuring operational continuity, timely problem resolution, ongoing performance improvement, and planned preventative maintenance of all technology operations.

    Fiscally responsible for budget development, planning, oversight, and fiscal management of department budget. Provide input and assist in preparing the annual Office of Information Systems budget.

    Collaborate with educational leaders, IT staff, and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize data-related needs and projects, aligning them with the school district's strategic objectives or requirements from CDE

    Work closely with district administrators, leadership teams, and staff to investigate, evaluate, implement, maintain, and enhance district wide technology solutions and operations support, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.

    Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and overseeing the delivery of products and services.

    Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This job has supervisor responsibilities including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, directing work, assigning work, supervising work, training, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating. Direct reports:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.
    • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Ten (10) years of professional work experience
    • Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience
    • Demonstrated leadership in Technology management role, ideally in public education.
    • Advanced executive presence, with respectfulness, confidence, assertiveness, professional demeanor, interpersonal behaviors, and gravitas expected from executive-level leadership.
    • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate and build commitment to strategic direction with internal and external constituencies.
    • Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude with emphasis on partnership and teamwork building.
    • Ability to negotiate and build consensus.
    • Ability to promote and follow the Board of Education policies, District procedures, and department procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
