Overview:
The Diesel Mechanic performs preventive maintenance on engines and hydraulic systems for on and off-road mobile equipment (including vehicles such as trucks, trailers, tractors, and forklifts) and maintains stationary equipment. Heavy lifting of tools and components required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with diesel engines, such as faulty fuel systems, cooling systems, or electrical systems
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems and make necessary repairs
- Perform inspections of diesel engines to ensure they meet safety and emissions standards
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed
- Collaborate with other technicians and team members to troubleshoot complex issues
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while working on diesel engines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Diesel Technician or in a similar role preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of diesel engines
- Familiarity with hydraulics, schematics, and tractor-trailer systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
- Proficient in using power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Experience in automotive repair or working with industrial equipment is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and operate heavy equipment as needed
