      Job Description

      ABOUT THE JOB

      The Installation Manager is responsible for leading our Installation & Service function and its 3 field crews with each crew having a lead. They will raise the bar of our current approach and develop/implement the next. This includes strategically assessing our current, determining next priorities, creating/improving processes, developing/training our associates, and delivering improved results for our customers and associates. This is a hands-on role that will work with their crews for part of their time to understand/support/drive. They will collaborate cross-functionally among our customers, sales, engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing.

      Our growing business, Solar Innovations, designs and manufacturers large folding/sliding doors, glass walls, sunrooms, greenhouses, and skylights. We recently joined Fortune Brands Innovations, expanding their family of industry-leading brands and innovative products for entryways and outdoor living spaces.

      This blended position is located in Pine Grove, PA; the expectation is that 30-50% of the manager’s time will be spent on jobsites.

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Leadership and Team Management:
        • Manage and lead three installation crews, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and adherence to project timelines.
        • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to crew leads and in-field associates.
        • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and high-performance standards.
      • Installation Operations:
        • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of installation projects.
        • Monitor and ensure the quality of installation work, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
        • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, address challenges, and provide technical assistance to the installation crews.
      • Working Manager:
        • Actively participate in installation activities alongside the crews, demonstrating expertise and setting a high standard of workmanship.
        • Assist with complex installations, troubleshooting issues, and resolving technical problems.
        • Lead by example, promoting a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
      • Training and Development:
        • Identify skill gaps and training needs among the in-field associates.
        • Coordinate and provide training programs to enhance technical skills, safety awareness, and professional development.
        • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to crew leads and associates, encouraging growth and improvement.
      • Communication and Collaboration:
        • Collaborate with other departments, such as project management, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of installation projects.
        • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers, to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction.


      Qualifications

      BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

      • Supervised skilled trades 2 years (construction/manufacturing) including site or project experience.
      • Highly skilled in construction trades. Hands-on. DIY personal. Glazing, carpentry, electrical, others.
      • Led a well-run department/team - organized/clean, goals, processes, metrics.
      • Delivered improved results (e.g., safety, quality, customer service, productivity, engagement).
      • Able/willing to travel 40% including overnight. In-office at Pine Grove 60%. Valid driver’s license.
      • Able to apply construction plans/drawings. Competent with Outlook/Excel and ERP software systems.
      • High school degree or equivalent.


      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Able to raise our bar and go beyond executing a defined approach to developing the next approach.
      • Supervised, for a leading company, glazing or general contractor, installation, multiple crews/states.
      • Experienced with Lean/CI tools (daily management, 5S, standard work) and process/CI improvement.
      • Utilizes a strategic mindset that first seeks to understand and helps drive a competitive advantage.
      • Experienced as a professional skilled tradesman and/or with similar products (doors, buildings).
      • Secondary education including technical/trade school, associate’s, or bachelor’s degrees.
