    The Assistant Director plays a critical role in overseeing instructional and research services and leveraging technology to enhance educational experiences across the campus. Collaborating closely with faculty, students, and IT colleagues, the selected candidate will drive the strategic implementation of technology in labs, classrooms, and technology-enabled spaces, ensuring high-quality standards and supporting the college's mission of fostering innovative teaching and learning practices.

    What will I do in this role?
    • Lead and manage the User Experience, Teaching and Learning Technologies, and Research Services teams within IT Services.
    • Act as a strategic contributor across various IT teams, including On-premises & Cloud Infrastructure Services and Library Systems.
    • Oversee the support and maintenance of technology-enabled learning environments in coordination with professional and student staff to ensure reliability.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with academic departments to align technology support with evolving educational needs.
    • Champion innovative instructional technologies and manage resources to support educational innovation.
    • Plan and organize professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, and students on standard software packages, instructional technology, and innovative technology. 
    • Maintain ongoing relations with academic departments to ensure appropriate support levels and communication concerning evolving needs for teaching and learning.
    • Manage a budget that supports funding for innovation in teaching and learning.
    • Support and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) application environment.  This includes the integration of data for courses and user access.
    • Develop and maintain plans for institutional research computing and storage. Understand the current active research projects and gather anticipated needs to support them over the next 3-5 years. Work closely with incoming faculty to understand how their desired research projects can be supported by our environment.
    • Manage the Lycoming Innovations in Teaching with Technology program.
    What are we looking for?
    • Required and Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s degree required.
      • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in information technology support, leadership, and management is required.  Transferable education, skills and experiences will be considered.
      • Master's degree preferred.
      • Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
      • Experience in higher education, instructional technology, or instructional design is preferred.
      • A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and the ability to work effectively in a team setting and as a team member.
