South Umpqua School District has an opening at South Umpqua High School for an Instructional Assistant for the 2024/2025 school year.
Minimum Qualifications:
Paraprofessionals are required to have at least an associate’s degree or the equivalent of that. Passing the placement Test will meet this requirement. Information about the test can be obtained from the personnel office.
Ability to work independently and follow written and oral directions. Patience, compassion, and understanding required. Must have the ability to establish respectful relationships with students.
Duties: Work as an instructional assistant under the direction of the DLC teacher working with moderate to severely impaired students. Duties would include assistance in supervising students, administering lesson materials, assistance with basic skills, basic physical therapy, and personal hygiene (in some cases, including diapering/changing). Must have physical ability to lift students and transport in a wheelchair, assist in feeding, and other duties as assigned.
Assignment is 6.75 hours per day / 5 days per week/10-month employee
Salary Range: $18.75-$26.56
This is a benefited position. Benefit package includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; employer-paid PERS.
