The Instructional Designer II conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Being an Instructional Designer II develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. In addition, Instructional Designer II writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Being an Instructional Designer II occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • The Instructional Designer position reports to the Director of Safety & Technical Training. The Instructional Designer will work with management to support Georgia Transmission Corporation's safety education and technical training programs.

    This position will leverage communication and design skills to develop corporate safety communications, such as Safety Alerts, FOCTA assignments, and training bulletins. The position will also support the review, revision, and drafting of safety and technical training-related policies and procedures. In addition, this position will work with subject matter experts to complete instructional design projects, such as the development of scripts and storyboards for safety training videos and e-learning modules.

    The position will work with the Director, Safety & Technical Training to conduct needs assessments, identify appropriate training objectives, and develop instructional content. The position will also continuously evaluate training for improvement opportunities to better serve our EMC Members. The Instructional Designer will identify ways to leverage new technology, such as computer-based training and virtual reality simulations, to enhance training programs. This position will develop and organize safety and ITS-training related content for KIP. The Instructional Designer may assist the safety team in analyzing safety data and generating infographics to promote a better understanding of trends and lessons learned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, Technical Communication, or related field.

    Experience: This is an entry-level position. 1-year of experience in instructional design is desired. Utility-related experience is highly desired but not necessary. Past experience should include technical writing and documentation.

    Equivalent Experience: Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Communication, Psychology, or related field with three or more years of business experience. Utility-related experience is highly desired. Experience should include technical writing and documentation.

    Specialized Skills: Must possess excellent demonstrated technical writing, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Should also possess strong verbal communication and time management skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work. Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is required. Previous experience using Microsoft SharePoint, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat is desirable.
