The Instructional Designer II conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Being an Instructional Designer II develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. In addition, Instructional Designer II writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the development and delivery of training and consultation related to course design especially in an online or blended environment.
MAJOR DUTIES
Designs and delivers face-to-face and online training in online, blended and face-to-face instructional technology, design, and software tools.
Provides support to faculty, staff and administrators in the development and design of content-specific instruction learning modules, multimedia components, web resources, and instructional materials for both distance and on-campus learning.
Supports faculty, staff, administrators and students in the use of web conferencing, video conferencing, and online communication tools.
Develops content for training as related to Blackboard and other instructional technologies.
Resolves help calls related to instructional technologies, Blackboard, and teaching strategies.
Researches online and blended teaching and learning strategies and best practices.
Conducts needs assessments and peer reviews at the course and program level.
Vetting web 4.0 tools and other instructional technologies.
Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of teaching and learning principles, best practices, and current developments in pedagogy/andragogy and web design in higher education.
Knowledge of online and distance learning best practices.
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs, particularly MS Office, web 2.0 and electronic communication techniques.
Skill in using multimedia equipment and software.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Director assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

The work consists of varied duties in the design of instruction and use of instructional technologies. Frequent changes to technology contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to assist faculty in the development of online, blended and face-to-face courses. Success in this position contributes to the success of university teaching and learning goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Annual salary $52,248.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
