Instructional Technology Specialist supports faculty members utilizing information technology in support of teaching and learning. Develops computer training materials and assists in teaching how to set up and use computer applications and related technologies. Being an Instructional Technology Specialist may troubleshoot technical problems and train junior staff members. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. This position is full time, on campus at our Parkside campus.
A. Hours: As scheduled with supervisors.
B. Administrative:
· Coordinates and facilitates activities for the Library at the Learning Site.
· Collects and evaluates Library usage. In collaboration with the Director of Library Services, uses survey data and usage data to develop and implement changes based on students’ needs.
· Issues College ID cards to faculty, staff, and students. Maintains equipment and orders supplies, as needed.
· Assists in overseeing and directing Federal-Work Study student workers assigned to work in the Library. Ensures sufficient coverage for all open hours for the Library.
· Assists with maintaining any on-site resources such as books, DVDs, journals, and other materials.
C. Reference and User Services:
· Provides excellent customer service and problem solving skills in assisting all Library users. Helps students access available services and resources; directs students to further assistance as needed.
· Provides limited reference assistance to students, faculty, and staff. Makes referrals to the librarians, as needed.
· Assists with inter-campus loan receipt and return of library resources.
· Assists with receipt and return of interlibrary loan materials from other libraries.
· Provides assistance with check in and check out of Library materials and equipment.
· Assists and provides problem solving with copier, printer, and computer use by Library users.
D. Technical Services:
· Work directly with the Director and Associate Director of Instructional Design and Technology on projects that support the team.
· Assist students with navigating Canvas courses.
· Provide training and support for the Canvas Learning Management System, Panopto Lecture Capture System, and other instructional technologies that support teaching and learning in on-ground, hybrid, and distance learning courses.
· Help conduct training workshops and special sessions on current and emerging instructional technologies and teaching and learning strategies and methodologies.
· Work with faculty to integrate instructional technologies and active learning strategies into the curriculum.
· Assist with IDT Help Desk on level 1 tickets.
E. Other Duties:
· All other related duties as assigned by supervisor and Campus President.
· Assists with maintenance and updates of Library computers.
· Assists with annual inventory of Library books, equipment, and other materials.
· Attends all department and institutional meetings, in-service training sessions, and other meetings as requested by the supervisor.
