What You Will Do:

As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the landscape and grounds of our property. This is a hands-on position that requires knowledge of landscape maintenance and the ability to operate both hand and power tools.

• Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, edging, and trimming.
• Maintain gardens and lawns, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides.
• Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Remove dead, damaged, or unwanted trees or branches.
• Irrigate lawns and gardens.
• Operate and maintain hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and pruning shears.
• Operate and maintain power tools used for lawn care such as deck mowers, weed trimmers, pruning tools, and edgers.
• Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecured items, etc.
• Assist with snow removal during winter months.
• Inspect the grounds regularly for potential safety hazards and perform necessary repairs or improvements.
• Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas by disposing of waste and debris properly.
• Monitor and report any issues or concerns with the landscape or grounds.
• Order supplies and equipment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

What you will need:

A Groundskeeper needs to possess a variety of skills including a working knowledge of landscaping and gardening techniques, the ability to operate and maintain tools and machinery, physical stamina for labor-intensive tasks, and keen attention to detail.

• Minimum of one year of commercial experience or demonstrated basic knowledge in the operation and maintenance of commercial groundskeeping equipment.
• Practical skills for carrying out manual work, including using a range of tools and equipment for ground maintenance.
• Knowledge of plant care and the ability to identify various types of plants, weeds, and pests.
• Attention to detail for ensuring grounds and facilities are kept clean, tidy, and well-maintained at all times.
• Basic problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues related to ground maintenance.
• Teamwork skills to work collaboratively with other staff and coordinate tasks efficiently.
• Effective communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and other relevant parties.
• Ability to operate and maintain machinery used for ground maintenance, such as deck mowers and trimmers.
• Ability to work safely and reliably with minimum of supervision.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and slippery conditions.
• Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
• Ability to utilize lifts, ladders and/or scaffolding to work at elevated heights.
• Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8-hour shift.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Satisfactory background and reference checks.

Working Conditions:

Outdoor Environment:

The Groundskeeper may be subject to working in inside and outside environments, in extreme cold and hot weather.

Physical Demands:

Physically demanding work. The Groundskeeper will frequently engage in activities like bending, kneeling, lifting, and shoveling.

Exposure:

Hazards in the work environment include exposures to loud noises, vibrations, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working in high places or slippery surfaces, exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and oils.

Driving

· Driving a vehicle to conduct maintenance tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27,500.00 - $32,500.00 per year
