Duties & Responsibilities

• Research
  • Survey and document properties potentially impacted by proposed transportation projects by assisting with the production of Historic Resources Inventories (HRI), Historic Resources NRHP Evaluations (Intensive Level Surveys), and Historic Resource Survey Forms (HSRFs).
  • Conduct historical research on standing structures and archaeological structural remains to identify and evaluate those eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places in accordance with various State and Federal environmental laws and regulations.
• Engagement • Coordinate findings with the IDOT to ensure historic property concerns are incorporated into the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation facilities. • Respond to requests for information related to historic architectural resources and provide technical expertise to staff, government agencies, academia, industry, and the general public.
• Outreach and Other • Attend scientific conferences and training courses and present papers and results. • Represent the Survey and PRI at meetings and other venues in areas of expertise. • Keep abreast of developments in the discipline. • Perform other related duties as needed to further the mission and goals of the Survey, PRI, and the University of Illinois.
