Farmingdale State College invites applications for a Lecturer position in the Department of Architecture and Construction Management focusing on construction management. The department offers two ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degree programs, Architectural Engineering Technology and Construction Management Engineering Technology.

The primary responsibilities include teaching construction management courses at the undergraduate level, including construction materials and systems, construction project management activities for plan reading, scheduling, cost estimating, submittal document preparation using CAD programs and construction project communication platforms, construction safety management and pre-construction planning. Additional responsibilities include lab development and experiments, student advisement, recruitment, assessments, and service for the department.

The individual must have excellent written and oral communication skills and must be committed to the continuous improvement process and outcome-based assessment of the programs to maintain specialized accreditation. Teaching assignments may include both day and evening courses. May be required to teach in multiple formats including hybrid, online and traditional face-to-face classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• An earned graduate degree in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, or closely related field.
• Industrial and project management experience in the construction industry.
• Working knowledge and ability to use, manage and teach construction software for submittal drawing preparation, project communications, scheduling, estimating and management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 7-10 years of industrial and project management.
• Experience teaching in certification programs managed by construction-industry professional organizations or at the college level.
• Experience with construction management in major corporate, public or military project management agencies.
• Experience with design-build and integrated project delivery, stakeholder communication and collaboration, use of construction mock-ups, field supervision of building trades, project commissioning, and project closeout of operational and financial activities.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling for pre-construction and construction operations.

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

• For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, March 17, 2023 and ending Thursday, March 30, 2023, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
