    This is a student internship opportunity under the Pathways Program. The student selected for this opportunity will work with the Office of Capital Office professionals by assisting them with various technical, administrative and program support duties. The student will be hired at the GS-7 grade level with the potential of a GS-9 and serve in a developmental capacity under the Pathway's Appointment, wherein the work is less complex in nature and the supervisor or a senior level employee provides specific instruction and guidance.

    This position is established under the Small Business Administration (SBA) Intern Program. At the successful conclusion/completion of the Internship program, the student may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional position. If converted, the student must meet the qualifications of the position being converted into at the GS-9 grade level.

    As a Student Trainee, you will actively engage in the following duties:

    • Assists with developing goals and objectives and reviews and revises policies, procedures, mission objectives, and implements quality improvements.
    • Develops various visual media to present trends, performance status, capability, and related management
      information.
    • Analyzes and evaluates data and reports to solve basic issues or problems for the loan programs.
    • Performs project management functions, such as planning, developing, and implementing project plans.
    • Interacts with leadership, managers, team leads, and the organizations workforce including contractors to
      organize and complete tasks in a timely and effective manner.
    • Performs a variety of administrative tasks as necessary to carry out the work of the office.

    Qualifications

    Student Internship Program Eligibility:
    Current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

    To be eligible for appointment to a position in the Small Business Administration (SBA) Internship Program, throughout the duration of the appointment, an individual must:
    • Be currently enrolled or accepted as a student on at least a half-time basis at a qualifying educational institution in a certificate, degree, or diploma program.
    • Be seeking a degree that is relevant to the position.
    • Grade qualifications must be met prior to start date.
    • Must meet the definition of a student throughout the duration of their internship appointment.
    • Complete at least 640 hours of work experience prior to completion of degree.
    Students who have graduated are not eligible for this position.

    If selected you:
    • must sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement;
    • may be employed throughout the academic year;
    • must maintain status as a current student;
    • maintain good academic standing, at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale.
