    TITLE: Chemical Dependency Counselor (1 or more positions)

    LOCATION: Tribal Health Department – Location Negotiable

    SALARY: $21.25 to $24.42 per hour, plus benefits (may be employed under contract)

    CLOSING DATE: Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. (MST)

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

    Position is a Testing Designated Position within the definition of the CSKT Drug Free Workplace Policy effective

    January 1, 1998. The successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test

    and serve a mandatory six (6) month probationary period.

    The incumbent will provide confidential services, and substance use disorder assessment and evaluations, intake and

    referrals and individual sessions, telehealth virtual and telephone sessions, and psycho-educational groups, and case

    management and consultations. Regarding telehealth services, Position will be both off and on-site placement at

    designated Tribal Health Department clinic settings.

    • Provides utmost, discrete and confidential communication and abides by the Health Insurance Portability and

    Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and Confidentiality Rules and Regulations with 42 C.F.R. PART 2 and

    Client Consent for treatment regarding all clinical substance use disorder treatment services.

    • Provides and administers substance use disorder assessments to clientele with emphasis and ability to write

    evaluation reports and correspondences and is able to interpret findings and understanding of the ASAM

    Patient Placement, Level of Care criteria. Emphasis is geared for least restrictive placement criteria and is able

    to articulate, verbalize and utilize consultation with clinical staff.

    • Provides individual substance use disorder counseling sessions and individualized treatment planning with

    clientele to enhance desired motivation for recovery.

    • Provides substance use disorder psycho-educational groups to clientele with ability to prepare and gather

    specified recovery topics of materials for specialized peer cluster recovery groups and is able to participate in

    co-facilitation with groups in a cooperative and collaborative manner to deliver appropriate healthy learning

    recovery styles for clientele.

    • Provides substance use disorder intake and referral services to the catchment population by utilization of

    established program standards, policy and procedures.

    • Provides substance use disorder case management for clientele records with emphasis of maintaining

    established health record documentation and proper releases of information, progress notes and necessary

    clientele data such as screening tools, letters and written reports.

    • Provides and consults with a wide variety of agencies, Tribal, County and State personnel such as legal,

    medical, nurses, pharmacists, psychiatrist, psychologist, mental health therapist, treatment centers, social

    services and other health care professionals. Coordination of services is mostly geared towards substance use

    disorder related problems in a two-way process, assessing the dimension of problems or issues, considering

    available resources, and exploring alternative plans for resolution of clinical services.

    • Provides and demonstrates ability to take directives and independently process substance use disorder

    continuum of care services when designated internal staff is unavailable and demonstrates ability to proceed

    according to established program standards, policy and procedures.

    • Provides understanding of Native American cultural awareness and knowledge, especially in utilization of

    traditional CSKT native practices and surrounding Indian beliefs which is discretely implemented in the customs

    of some treatment services for substance use disorder abuse and intervention/prevention recovery services.

    • Provides and abides by professional ethical conduct as a substance use disorder provider and ability to model

    personal wellness and limits, healthy professional boundaries, healthy communication styles and genuine

    willingness to collaborate with clientele, staff and the catchment population. Flexibility in the performance of

    duties is necessary.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION):

    Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the State of Montana Board of Behavioral Health, Business Standards

    Division and be able to establish the National Provider Information (NPI) Number (or) Licensed Addiction Counselor

    (Candidate) by the State of Montana Board of Behavioral Health, Business Standards Division. Must be able to obtain

    LAC license 12-months of being hired.

    Must retained substance use disorder associates or higher degree or equivalent education in the specified preferred

    field of addictions.

    Must retained at least 1-year experience or equivalent to the psychology and/or clinical services within the field of

    substance use disorder services.

    Must pass a background and suitability check according to Public Law 101-630: Indian Child Protection and Family

    Violence Prevention Act.

    Must adhere to all Tribal Health Department directives, policies and procedures.

    Must have a valid State of Montana Driver's License.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (AS DETERMINED BY THE INTERVIEW):

    3. Proof of enrollment from a federally recognized Tribe if other than CSKT.
