Instructor - Chemical Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of chemical engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Chemical Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Chemical Engineering typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Industrial Electronics Engineering Technology Instructor

  • Northwest Mississippi Community College seeks a full-time 9-month instructor for the Industrial Electronics Engineering Technology program located on the Senatobia Campus.  The chosen instructor is expected to provide excellent instruction, create a professional environment, and have a solid reputation in our communities for quality instruction and highly qualified and desired graduates for employment.

    Minimum Requirements:  Must have a minimum of three (3) years of successful work experience within the last five (5) years in the field of industrial maintenance, industrial automation, and/or industrial controls.  Must be able to demonstrate successful experience in all areas of electron theory, industrial mechanical, industrial electrical, industrial fluid power applications, various programmable logic controllers, and various industrial automation applications.  Demonstrated professional demeanor, positive contributions to a team, and desire for continuous improvement.  Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Electronics Engineering Technology or directly related field. 

    Preferred Qualifications:  A baccalaureate degree in Industrial Electronics or closely related field.  Five (5) years of successful work experience in the field of industrial maintenance, industrial automation, and/or industrial controls.

    Responsibilities (not limited to):

    1. Continually ensure that all requirements of all partners are met.
    2. Maintain a professional demeanor with all students, coworkers, and community members.
    3. Provide excellent classroom instruction through positive and inspiring learning experiences for all students using a variety of teaching methods and making every learning situation relevant to career preparation.
    4. Prepare detailed lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory demonstrations for all units of instruction. 
    5. Recommend changes in the curriculum to maintain a current program.
    6. Monitor the progress for each student in the program. 
    7. Work as a teammate with other instructors and support staff.
    8. Update and continually improve your own teaching techniques and skills and successfully complete all required professional development activities.
    9. Adhere to compliance regulations for all professional licensing qualifications.
    10. Teach the depth and scope of the class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog and relate the instructions to careers and employer expectations.
    11. Prepare and grade examinations based upon course objectives, publish lesson schedule, and return all assignments in a timely manner.
    12. Implement evaluation for outcomes assessment and achieve established results while maintaining college standards of student satisfaction.
    13. Work creatively in all classes, encourage students, and maintain satisfactory retention.
    14. Begin and end each class at the designated times, providing a full period of instruction.
    15. Accurately maintain attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy, submit class roster daily, maintain a separate record of attendance and grades that is clearly labeled and turned in at the end of the term.
    16. Accurately maintain all reports required by NWCC, Mississippi Community College Board, and employer partners.
    17. Attend faculty meetings, in-service meetings, and other college events as required by the College.
    18. Participate in extracurricular activities, such as campus and community events.
    19. Supervise all laboratory experience.
    20. Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment. 
    21. Maintain proper inventory of all equipment and tools assigned to the program. 
    22. Maintain an active advisory committee which meets twice a year, minimally. 
    23. Visit industry to develop and maintain a good rapport with employers and to monitor students participating in internships.
    24. Take an active role in the advisement and counseling of students.
    25. Assist students to find employment in an occupation related to training.
    26. Serve on various faculty committees.
    27. Contribute to the overall mission of the College by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
