Interstate Chemical Company is hiring an on-site Chemical Buyer/Purchasing Representative!

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for someone to work Monday - Friday, from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This person will be required to report to the office during these hours.

The Chemical Buyer is responsible for procuring chemicals from suppliers. The Buyer must coordinate logistics with traffic, coordinate arrivals of incoming product with operations and convey problems with product availability to Customer Service. The buying desks are separated by the following categories: general bulk, dedicated bulk trucks, factory packs and bags, and metal finishing products.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Place orders with suppliers and request all special needs such as Certificates of Analysis, product heating, maximum weights to be loaded, special equipment needed, etc..
• Enter purchase orders into the computer. Distribute copies of purchase orders to traffic and operations.
• Follow up with suppliers for ICC requests. This would include Certificates of Analysis and Bills of Lading on “Supplier direct” shipments.
• Review supplier invoices for accuracy and approve for payment.
• Update and maintain accurate supplier/product pricing within computer system.
• Complete supplier non-conformance forms based on procedure. Complete Vendor Compensation forms as required.
• Pursue supplier pricing and support in response to marketing requests, as delegated by the Purchasing Manager.
• Receive stock requests from satellite branches and order product accordingly.
• Negotiate price reductions with assigned vendors.
• Initiate approval for product repackaging or package conversion.
• Initiate approval process for new supplier qualification.
• Establish and monitor reorder points.
• Work on special projects as assigned by Purchasing Manager.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Education:

• Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

• Microsoft Excel: 1 year (Preferred)
• Purchasing: 1 year (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

• Hermitage, PA: Relocate before starting work (Required)
