Computer Technician A Training Instructor
Career Technical Training (CTT)
Primary Position Objectives
Reports to the CTT Manager. Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.

- Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation
- Meets SMART Goals established by management every Program year
- Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
- Instructs on curriculum in accordance with the Job Corps requirements and program specifications
- Counsels and motivates students regarding behavior, training, personal and/or study habits and problems.
- Develops and prepares supplemental lessons and recommends curricula changes.
- Individualizes the curriculum to fit the student’s choice of vocation and maintains contact with vocational counselors and instructors.
- Responsible for building and equipment in seeing that security measures are taken, and equipment and supplies are cared for.
- Prepares reports such as student/staff hours, requisitions, and monthly student evaluations
- Maintains classroom environment conductive to learning.
- Adheres to required property control policies and procedures
- Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily
- Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices
- Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), LifeSkills Connection Inc.’s policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures
- Demonstrates and abides by LifeSkills Connection Inc.’s core values and operating principles.
- Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards
- Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement
- Ensures that Case notes are updated at least monthly to include progress from all areas
- Participates in PRH mandated staff training. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination
- Performs other duties as assigned
Performance Standards/Results
- Presents information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms correct interpretation of information
- Very high standard of communication skills, both written and oral for the presentation of facts and ideas
- Written communication must be clear, concise, easy to read and comprehend
- Action-oriented. Demonstrates the ability to handle several projects simultaneously with decision making, flexibility, and problem-solving
- Implements the key principles of time management, task allocation, and priority assignment in addition to personal organization
- Shows attention to detail and the ability to complete work with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency
- Continually seek ways to improve employment service provided via the development of professional skills and personal growth
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel
Teaching certificate with a Computer Maintenance Technician endorsement, or five (5) years' experience with a Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A certification.
Two years’ experience in the trade of instruction. One year of teaching experience required.
Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the Center is located or is accredited by a professional trade organization.

For NTC, instructor must be certified by union or trade organization, or by a national trade certifying organization
Valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
