This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth Sports Coach at the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises a group of children and program activities.
2. To be aware of the differences in each child’s physical and emotional maturity, personality, backgrounds, and motivation.
3. To provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all, giving each child an equal opportunity to participate.
4. Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are culturally relevant, are developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with the Y’s values.
5. Sets up and takes down class equipment. Reports equipment problems.
6. To serve as a positive role model to the participants and parents
7. To communicate good health and fitness principles and positive character development concepts to players, parents, and spectators.
8. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.
9. Attends required abuse risk management training.
10. Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
11. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
12. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be responsible and of good character.
· Must meet all Association-Wide training requirements in addition to those set forth by their Supervisor.
