JOB SUMMARY:
The Educational Instructor will design and implement age and developmentally appropriate educational curriculum in one or more academic, technical, or vocational subjects (including ESL and physical education). Services are provided to unaccompanied children and youth ages 0-17 residing a 24-hour shelter funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Curricula will combine best practices in proven pedagogy models for unaccompanied children. Educational Instructor will ensure that services follow national standards of education while adhering to Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and ORR requirements to provide a unique experience for children and youth. The Educational Instructor must be culturally responsive to the academic needs of each youth. Daily instruction must be provided in a nurturing, productive learning environment that will allow students to thrive. Must strictly enforce and adhere to ORR’s Zero Tolerance Policy regarding abuse and neglect and all relevant ORR policies and procedures always ensuring the safety of the children and youth.
