Instructor - Educational Assessment teaches courses in the discipline area of educational assessment, testing, and measurement. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Educational Assessment provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Educational Assessment typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • Summary:

    The Automated Assessment team develops machine learning-based software systems that analyze tens of millions of learner exam responses each year. Our technology is unique and meaningful, providing results quickly on student performance on standardized tests. The information helps inform teaching and learning for educators, students and parents.

    As a senior Software Developer, you will:

    • Design, develop and deploy software components in a machine learning pipeline.

    • Contribute to the development of student assessments data management components -- providing efficient access for developing new assessment techniques while maintaining strong data security and privacy.

    • Evaluate open-source and commercial platforms for the use, development and operation of machine learning models.

    • Develop tooling and infrastructure to support ML engineers and data scientists with model experimentation and deployment

    • Work with ML scientists to transition research prototypes into robust, scalable and cost-effective software solutions.

    Qualifications

    • BS in a quantitative field (CS, EE, statistics, math, data science) or related experience

    • Software engineering expertise

    • Python development experience

    • RDBMS experience

    • MongoDB or other NoSQl database experience

    • Machine learning familiarity

    • Analytical, inquisitive, adaptable, creative

    • Great collaboration skills

    Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

    The minimum full-time salary range is between $110k - $135k
