Position Summary

The Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy College of Engineering and Science invites applicants for part-time adjunct instructor positions in Environmental Engineering beginning in August 2024. A graduate degree in Environmental Engineering or related field, strong communications skills, and a student-centered approach to excellent teaching and student learning are required. A doctorate degree is preferred. Instructors will teach undergraduate classes to support the College’s programs in China. Overseas teaching assignments currently range from three to six weeks in length.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be an effective and enthusiastic student-centered teacher, engaging in best practices for active learning and student success, with a demonstrated commitment to supporting a diverse population of students. Adjunct instructors will teach undergraduate courses and laboratories in various undergraduate foundational engineering courses and Environmental Engineering courses at our partner schools in China. 

Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds). 

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
