The US History and African American Studies Teacher will create engaging learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social potential. Demonstrates proficiency and value added collaboration when engaging with professional learning teams & model a work ethic characterized by diligence, persistence and dedication.

Core work:

• The ability to be flexible in a fast-paced, evolving school environment. Commitment to personal excellence and lifelong learning.
• Planning skills-based lessons. The ability to prepare and implement integrated lesson and unit plans that lead to student mastery of standards to include writing instruction of essays and the research paper writing process.
• Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed. Communicating progress with parents and students. Making data-driven instructional decisions to impact student achievement.
• Assessing students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students.

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
• State Department of Education licensure in content area
• Supports our Catholic Identity as a faith based school
• Valid driver’s license; must be insurable with good driving record
• Subject matter expertise in area of teaching certification.

Preferred experience:
3 years of relevant, high-school teaching experience.
Bi-lingual Spanish/English strongly preferred

Student Supervision/Interaction:

• Adhere to the Decree on Child Protection requirements.
• Complete monthly required Bulletin trainings per VIRTUS Child Protection standards.
• All employees must consider themselves supervisors of students at all times.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

• 8 hour shift
