Job Description:
Hope Christian Services is seeking a dedicated and passionate Adult Program Instructor to join our team. The Adult Program Instructor will be responsible for planning and leading engaging activities and providing supportive care for adults with developmental disabilities in our day program setting.
Responsibilities:
· Plan and facilitate daily activities and programming for adults with developmental disabilities, tailored to their interests, needs, and abilities.
· Lead group activities, such as arts and crafts, music therapy, recreational games, and life skills training, to promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity.
· Provide individualized support and assistance to participants with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, as needed.
· Create a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters a sense of belonging, dignity, and respect for all participants.
· Collaborate with other staff members, including direct support professionals, therapists, and nurses, to coordinate care and ensure the safety and well-being of participants.
· Document participant progress, behavior observations, and activity participation in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
· Communicate effectively with participants, families, caregivers, and team members to promote positive relationships and ensure continuity of care.
· Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in working with individuals with developmental disability
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in special education, social work, psychology, or related field preferred but not required.
· Relevant work experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
· Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a day program, residential setting, or community-based program is preferred.
· Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine desire to support and empower individuals with disabilities.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· Knowledge of person-centered planning principles and trauma-informed care approaches is a plus.
· Must submit to a criminal background check and be deemed qualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.
· Shall submit to drug testing prior to employment as well as randomly and for cause.
Must agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Child Abuse Registry Information.
