Instructor - History teaches courses in the discipline area of history. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - History provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - History typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for a half-time, two semester Instructor in its History Department. We are seeking an historian of Asian History to teach two courses per semester: one on modern Asian history, and another on either Japanese or Chinese history, as well as the world history survey. All courses are delivered in-person.
Minimum QualificationsABD in History with a focus on Asian History (especially modern Japanese and/or Chinese history). Commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration.
Preferred QualificationsPh.D. in History, with a focus on Asian History (especially Japanese and/or Chinese history) during the Modern Era. Previous college-level teaching experience preferred. Ability and/or experience teaching online and a demonstrated track record of engaging students beyond the classroom.
