Instructor - Mathematics teaches courses in the discipline area of mathematics and statistics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. The instructor will teach face-to-face or online mathematics classes, which may include Transition Math (MAT 003), Mathematical Measurement and Literacy (MAT 110), Quantitative Literacy (MAT 143), Statistical Methods I (MAT 152), or Precalculus Algebra (MAT 171). Ideal candidates will be available to teach face-to-face night sections or online in the fall 2024 semester. Duties are primarily instructional, with efforts that promote and enhance the college's commitment to excellence in instruction and support the current needs of the students and other faculty. Instructors are responsible to a dean and/or program manager. The relationship of the instructor to the student is one of leader, teacher, and facilitator of learning.
This position is for courses beginning fall semester, August 19, 2024. Preference may be given to candidates who are available to teach in-person courses and throughout the academic year. Position posting will be open until filled.

Master’s degree in mathematics or related field with at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics. Eligible candidates for the in-person position must be available to teach primarily in the evenings on HCC’s main campus.
