Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Cape Henry Collegiate seeks a part-time mathematics teacher to join a highly collaborative and dynamic team in our Upper School starting August 2023. The ideal candidate will have an unapologetic enthusiasm for mathematics and a strong passion for helping students grow. The successful candidate will teach three sections of mathematics (full-time is five) to students in grades 9 through 12.
Competitive candidates will be experienced with teaching high school students and must possess a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred). Ability and experience teaching diverse high school math levels, including precalculus, AP Calculus and geometry will make candidates particularly competitive, though there is flexibility, and the focus is on recruiting a great math educator. Cape Henry offers courses in the Upper School that range from Algebra 1 through post-AP college math classes. Additionally, we hope to attract candidates who have an interest in being involved outside the classroom in extracurricular activities.
Education and Experience:
A preferred minimum of three years’ experience teaching math courses at a secondary or tertiary level. The ideal candidate should have teaching experience in high school (grades 9 through 12).
