    Position Summary  

    The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy College of Engineering and Science invites applicants for a full-time non-tenure track China Program instructor position in Mechanical Engineering beginning in August 2024. The annual appointments are renewable based on performance reviews. A graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, strong communication skills, and a student-centered approach to excellent teaching and student learning are required. A doctoral degree is preferred. Instructors will teach undergraduate classes to support the College’s programs in China. Overseas teaching assignments currently range from six to twelve weeks in length.

    Requirements

    The successful candidate will be an effective and enthusiastic student-centered teacher, engaging in best practices for active learning and student success, with a demonstrated commitment to supporting a diverse population of students. Instructors will teach undergraduate courses and laboratories in various undergraduate foundational engineering courses and Mechanical Engineering courses at our partner schools in China.  


    Physical Requirements

    Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds). 


    Work Environment

    Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
