Instructor - Music teaches courses in the discipline area of music. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Music provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Music typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     To work part time providing private, semi-private or group DJ or Music Production instruction to students Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Specific duties and responsibilities include the following but the individual will also be expected to perform all the duties necessary which are customarily performed by a person holding this position. Other duties may be assigned.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deliver instruction in mixing and scratching on turntables using Bach to Rock’s proprietary curriculum and specific methodology
    • Deliver instruction in music production using Bach to Rock’s proprietary curriculum and Ableton Live
    • Adapt to DJ or Music Production students interested in diverse styles (eg: hip hop, pop, rock, house, oldies etc.)
    • Coach DJ students for live performance.
    • Provide administrative support, as needed.
    • Manage classroom time effectively to balance student needs and attention

    Administrative Support

    • Move, set up, and break down equipment at the school and events
    • Assist with moving furniture, equipment and materials
    • Perform basic repair of minor school equipment
    • Assist with equipment inventory

    • Must demonstrate an understanding of DJ Mixing, Scratching, or Music Production concepts and be able to communicate those concepts to students effectively
    • Must DJ or use Ableton Live at a professional level of competence
    • Must be able to receive constructive feedback on teaching techniques and apply the feedback to new teaching situations, and environments
    • Must be able to be physically present at B2R for scheduled lessons
    • Ability to interact effectively with the public
    • Ability to operate basic office equipment, i.e. telephones, photocopiers and computers
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to work effectively with staff and management
    • Adaptable to changes in the workplace
    • Ability to pass a background check

    Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure

    • Teaching certificate and or degree in music is preferred; those who are currently enrolled in a music degree program will also be considered
    • Experience in the subject area and or professional musical performance may be substituted for degree or licensure

    Language Skills

    • Must be proficient in English speaking and writing skills

    Salary and Benefits

    • Starting pay range is determined by education level, years of teaching experience, professional performance experience, number of instruments taught, number of programs qualified to teach, and in-person audition.
    • Medical, dental, and vision benefits are offered to all employees working 17.5 hours per week or more: CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield PPO; employer pays 80% premium for medical coverage for employee.
    • Employer 401(k) match up to 6% pay (Must be over 21 years of age to participate and work 1000 hrs./year)
    • Wages are declared on W-2, not a 1099 contractor.
    • Tuition reimbursement program for approved coursework from an accredited institution of higher learning: must work 20 hours/week; eligibility begins at 6 months of employment; $750/year and $3750 lifetime maximum; must remain at the company for 9 months after receiving reimbursement or pay it back.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
