Instructor - Nursing jobs in Kansas

Garden City Community College is seeking an adjunct instructor in the Nursing program to assist with clinical instruction who is passionate about connecting with students and helping them to explore their worlds through learning. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assist the students’ integration of theory and practice, specific to course learning outcomes, learning activities, and the level of the learner.
• Direct, manage, and evaluate student learning during clinical experiences at local healthcare facilities.
• Assign grades and attendance in accordance with FERPA regulations and submit grades and records by established deadlines.
• Assist students in mastering course material and implementing skills while performing care of the assigned patients in the clinical setting.
• Supervise students in the clinical setting and provide feedback and guidance in accordance with the policies of the nursing program to ensure students successful completion of the program.
• Debrief and evaluate students in clinical practice, observations, and other field experiences to help provide learning experience for the students.
• Collaboration with the clinical coordinator and other nursing instructors to facilitate students’ progression through the program successfully.

Instructional Technologies:

Garden City Community College uses Canvas by Instructure as the Learning Management System, and all instructors have access to Canvas and Microsoft Office 365 Outlook for email.

Performance Measurements:

Preparation of Course Materials:

• Follow the nursing department’s course objectives and an approved syllabus that includes department approved learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
• Utilize the college’s established LMS for assignments and grades, Evolve Sim Charting for clinical documentation for assigned clinical assignments, and EPIC Electronic Record system for documentation at the clinical site.

Instructor and Student Interaction:

• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes in the clinical setting through assignments and performances evaluations by providing a timely manner on student progress.
• Interact directly with each student and facilitate student to student, and student to patient interaction.
• Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review course evaluations when available and use feedback to improve course delivery.

Instructor and Institution Interaction:

• Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments, and grades, and student grades by GCCC established deadlines.
• Monitor e-mail for announcements, scheduling, official grade and enrollment communications, and reminders.
• Work closely with clinical coordinator to provide all required program assessment data in a timely fashion.
• Work both independently and as part of a team.
• Work closely with clinical site staff to help ensure students clinical experience based on their skill level.

Knowledge and Skills:

Required Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in the healthcare industry
• Current RN licensure in state of Kansas
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited university

Desired or Preferred Qualifications

• Prior clinical teaching experience
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from accredited university

Salary: $700 per credit hour, paid in three equal installments.
