Being an Instructor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Adjunct Instructor for Nursing

  • Summary Description:  The Adjunct Instructor for Nursing reports to the Dean of Nursing and is responsible for teaching upper division nursing course and/or providing clinical oversight and instruction at health-related agencies in the metropolitan Portland area. Terms in the RN to BSN program typically run five weeks in our Adult Degree Program and serve students who already have an RN license. Another program is in the planning stages to serve traditional nursing majors on the main campus.
      
    Primary Job Duties:
    • Teach assigned courses, including lecture and laboratory sections as assigned, in nursing, modeling current best practices in teaching, and demonstrating a commitment to sound andragogical and pedagogical practices. Courses may include, but are not limited to, RN Transition Course and Clinical; The Role of the Nurse as a Manager of Care; Nursing Research, Statistics, and Evidence-Based Practice; Health Promotion and Assessment for RNs and Clinical; Diversity, Equity, and Advocacy; Epidemiology and Population Health; Family Care and Community Health and Clinical; Leadership/Management and Professional Role (Capstone).
    • Advise and mentor students during the course.
    • Clearly communicate to students when and how to secure instruction and feedback outside of regular course meeting hours.
    • Provide prompt and thorough feedback to students to ensure their ability to incorporate changes before subsequent assignments.
    • Work collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
    • Understand and promote the mission, values, and core themes of Warner Pacific University .
    • Contribute to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
    • Exhibit excellent communication skills in all interactions with faculty, staff, and students.
    • Participate in the professional development opportunities provided by the institution.
    • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.

     Minimum Qualifications:
    • Graduate degree in nursing and teaching experience required.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Immersion in principles of evidence-based practice and inter-professional practice and education.
    • Professional experience in the field.
    • College teaching experience in relevant curriculum.
    • Experience working with diverse populations.
