    Description

    St. Louis College of Pharmacy at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach a 3-credit-hour Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics course to students in the Pharm.D. program during the summer semester 2024. Summer semester will run from May 28 through June 28. Classes will meet online for nine hours a week over the term, but some flexibility exists depending on the faculty member’s schedule.

    This course aims to familiarize students with the relationship between drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion and its therapeutic and adverse effects. Special emphasis is placed on understanding and applying pharmacokinetic models and mathematical calculations of relevant pharmacokinetic parameters. Additionally, students learn how to select an optimal dosage form, route of administration, adjust the dose and dosing interval to optimize drug therapy. The course builds on foundational mathematical skills and knowledge gained in algebra, calculus, pharmaceutical calculations, pharmaceutics, and principles of drug action courses.

    Qualifications


    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    • Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences or related discipline.
    • Three years of college-level teaching experience is preferred.
    • Demonstrated strong English language verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly in written and oral form to a variety of audiences.
    • Experience with learning management systems Brightspace, is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with today's students.
    • Willingness to incorporate diversity, cultural competency, and social justice into teaching.
