    POSITION:


    Full-Time lecturer position in Physics. The Department of Physics, Physical Sciences and Geology invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer position for Fall 2024. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to be an effective teacher and to work with students from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities include teaching lower-division service courses and labs, and general education courses in Astronomy and Physics, and maybe some upper-division courses for Physics majors.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


    M.S. in Physics, Astronomy, or a related field.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


    A Ph.D. in Astrophysics, Astronomy, Physics, or closely related field is preferred. Experience in teaching undergraduate Astronomy or Physics will enhance a candidate’s application.

    COMPENSATION:


    Salary is based on qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

    Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Salary rates for California State University Lecturers (Academic Year) can be found in the schedules linked below.

    The College of Sciences is one of four colleges on campus and is comprised of the Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Physical Sciences, Geology, Nursing, Psychology and Child Development departments. With about 2000 undergraduate majors and graduate students, the College of Sciences is one of the fastest growing colleges in the University. The Department of Physics, Physical Sciences and Geology is housed in the new, state-of-the-art 110,000 square foot Naraghi Hall of Science.     CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE
