Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowship in CaPS

JOB SUMMARY:

The Spalding University Counseling and Psychological Services Center (CaPS) is pleased to offer a 12-month Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowship from August 2024 through July 2025. We are seeking a team-oriented generalist with strong clinical skills ready to meet the increasing severity of college students' mental health needs. Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented student populations, a commitment to social justice, as well as competencies in brief treatment, crisis management, group interventions, assessment, and the provision of supervision are preferred.

This non-exempt, full-time position is housed within Spalding University CaPS Center in the Department of Student Affairs. The fellowship includes a range of responsibilities including individual counseling, group counseling, psychological assessment, crisis intervention, triage assessment, consultation with university departments, clinical supervision of doctoral practicum students (primarily assessment supervision), outreach programming, and other special projects as assigned or desired.

The fellow participates as a member of the CaPS Center staff and will be directly supervised by the CaPS Center Director (therapy supervision) and the Psychologist overseeing assessments (assessment supervision). The fellow will receive a minimum of an hour of weekly individual face to face supervision and one to two hours of group supervision/didactics in weekly case conference meetings. The fellow will also have 1-2 additional hours per week to focus on professional development (e.g. independent study, webinars, article reviews, EPPP prep, and seminars/workshops in the community).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provision of individual psychotherapy with mostly psychology graduate students
• Provision of psychotherapy with other students as needed
• Provision of supervision of all assessment cases
• Leading or co-leading at least one group during the year
• Initial consultations or triage of walk-in clients
• Outreach to the campus community
• Consultations with other departments or outside agencies
• Supplemental supervision of therapy practicum students
• Providing coverage when Director is away
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

To be fully considered for position, applicants must have:

• Completed all requirements for a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited graduate program. Dissertation should be defended before start date.
• Completed a full time, 12-month pre-doctoral internship, preferably APA accredited.
• Eligible for temporary licensure as a psychologist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
• Competence in generalist practice, including multiculturalism, brief psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and crisis intervention.

Preference for applicants with strong assessment skills, supervisory skills, and interest working with university and/or young adult population.

INTERRELATIONS

• Regular contact with Director of CaPS
• Contact with faculty and staff from other departments, especially with the Center for Accessibility and Learning Equity
• Must have an appreciation and respect for diverse populations.
