Instructor - Special Education teaches courses in the discipline area of special education. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • Position Title:  Special Educator Schofield

     

    Reports to:         Building Principal and/or Department Head

     

     

     

    Position Responsibilities:

     

    • Teach students specific skills and strategies to help them access curriculum
    • Conduct IEP meetings and complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion
    • Monitor student progress; revise IEP according to progress
    • Co-teach in regular education content area, or teach substantially separate subject
    • Prepare students for transition to post-high school life
    • Communicate with school personnel outside of the department
    • Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders

     

    Job Qualifications:

     Attendance at departmental and school-wide meetings

    • Requisite licensure as defined by the DESE and SEI Endorsement
    • Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • A strong commitment to helping a wide variety of culturally diverse students achieve their full potential
    • Ability to support the development of culturally responsive programs and activities that promote student engagement, family engagement, community involvement and a positive school climate
