Instructor - Special Education jobs in Huntington, NY
Instructor - Special Education teaches courses in the discipline area of special education. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. QUALIFICATIONS:
NYS SDA or SAS/SBL Certification
Strong communications/interpersonal skills, with student-centered approach
Extensive experience working with students with special needs
Possess strong knowledge of research-based, proactive, positive behavioral interventions
Knowledge of Part 200 regulations, graduation requirements and data collection
Awareness of wrap-around services for students with disabilities and community-based partnerships
Fluent with education-related technology resources and platforms
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervise teachers, paraprofessionals and related service providers
Engage in timely, detailed and articulate conversations with district stakeholders
Oversee and participate in WSBOCES student CSE meetings
Support Principal with all daily school functions, including scheduling, security protocols, data collection, progress monitoring and highly effective programming
Conduct trainings to support staff development
Facilitate interdisciplinary meetings
Start Date: July 1, 2024
