Instructor - Special Education teaches courses in the discipline area of special education. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma required; college background preferred
Experience in working with children with behavior disorders or knowledge of ABA practices preferred
Cooperative, able to work with supervising teachers and other staff members
Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public
Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work, and effectively attend to special needs of exceptional children
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
Salary Range: Support Services Salary Schedule, Group 7
Length of Contract: 185 days/7 hours per day
Starting Date: Immediately upon selection
