Instrumentation/Calibration Technician calibrate, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment used in a laboratory or manufacturing plant. Conduct routine testing and preventative maintenance to ensure conformance to established calibration standards. Being an Instrumentation/Calibration Technician experience using calibration software and diagnostic tools. Understanding of standards such as ISO,GMP,QSR. Additionally, Instrumentation/Calibration Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Instrumentation/Calibration Technician gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision.     Job Purpose: The General Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards. Technician also will oversee the work of any apprentice technician assigned to him/her.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Receive repair orders from dispatch.
    • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
    • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
    • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts. Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
    • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
    • Perform Test Drives with customers to better understand their issues/complaints.
    • Communicate with Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
    • Use MPI checklist to ensure that they examine each critical part of the vehicle while in the shop.
    • Use appropriate tools as needed: Air tools, Diagnostic tools, Hand tools.
    • Document work performed. Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician.
    • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
    • Attend factory-sponsored training classes. Keep update on factory technical bulletins.
    • Ensure that customers’ cars are kept clean. Keep shop area neat and clean.
    • Account for all dealership owned tools at all times.
    • Understand and follow Federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste materials.
    • Follow safety guidelines as mandated by company policy.

    Job Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or the equivalent
    • ASE certification is preferred
    • General mechanical skills required
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
    • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record required

    Physical Qualifications:

    • Should be able to stand for 6 hours per day
    • Should be able to lift tools, parts and automobile tires as needed
