Summary Directs, monitors, and performs activities related to the marketing of commercial lines accounts through interaction with Producers and Account Executives for appropriate and acceptable underwriting and rating of new business and renewal accounts by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Reviews applications, renewal requests, and endorsements for compliance with underwriting authority and guidelines.
- Reviews account information with Producer or Account Executive to determine market options.
- Submits appropriate forms (applications, supplemental applications, loss runs, etc.) to markets for purpose of obtaining quotes.
- Communicates timely with Producer or Account Executive for additional forms, reports (financial statements, tax statements, etc.) as requested by underwriters in order to acquire quotes.
- Binds coverages with appropriate carrier/broker underwriters as directed by Producer or Account Executive.
- Blocks markets to eliminate competitor quoting privileges by timing submissions to underwriters to be first received.
- Negotiates with underwriters and communicates/obtains requirements to/from Producers or Account Executives.
- Distributes monthly expiration reports to Account Executives and Producers to monitor upcoming renewal dates.
- Facilitates renewal marketing process through communications with Producers or Account Executives 180 days prior to renewal date.
- Develops and maintains relationships with carrier/broker representatives staying abreast of marketing and underwriting developments and trends.
- Maintains schedule of accounts to be marketed and assigns/distributes to Marketing CSR(s) for efficient and balanced workloads.
- Continually builds on product knowledge, trends, and new market opportunities.
- Distributes carrier/broker information as necessary to the Commercial Lines team members, as well as to other agency personnel, as appropriate.
- Attends and actively participates in Commercial Lines meetings.
- Reviews, approves and manages PTO schedule for Marketing CSR(s) ensuring proper department coverage at all times.
- Documents and maintains Marketing Department Procedure Manual; ensures comprehensive communication to Marketing CSR(s) for changes or enhancements; continually monitors for compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages one to four employees in the Marketing Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); five or more years’ experience with multi-line insurance products and working knowledge of property and casualty insurance markets. One to two years management experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Property and casualty insurance license.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of commercial coverages and forms required.
Customer Service Skills:
Ability and judgment to interact and communicate appropriately with other employees, customers and supervisor. Ability to serve customers, both internal and external, (community/public) in a manner that will reflect superior customer relations and enhance the overall marketing effort of Origin Bancorp.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
