Insurance Verification Specialist jobs in Washington

Summary: Confirm insurance eligibility for all scheduled exams and obtain pre-authorization for services as applicable. Answer all patient, referring provider, and staff questions, as they relate to insurance pre-authorization and eligibility.

Duties and responsibilities:

Review eligibility and authorizations work lists throughout the day; prioritize as needed. Provide backup to fellow team members as
necessary.

When prior authorization is required:

• Ensure pre-authorization is in place prior to exam; obtain auth # and record all correspondence.
• To perform the preceding bullet, start and complete prior authorization via direct contact with third party Radiology Benefit Managers or payers, to include contacting referring offices to request missing paperwork, chart notes and/or other clinical information as needed. Where not possible due to payer or referring provider office policies, coordinate with referring provider offices to ensure that they complete the necessary processes to result in prior authorization.
• Contact referring doctor’s office if reauthorization is required due to protocol changes or new insurance information; close contact with departments (modalities) required.
• Where patients choose to obtain care prior to completion of prior authorization, ensure that patients have completed the necessary paperwork and that the modality site has been informed via detailed system notes.

Provide onsite training to referring offices as directed by management.

Verify insurance eligibility/benefits for all scheduled exams.

Liaison with other departments as it relates to pre-authorization and eligibility.

Job requires data entry and a task-oriented workflow

• One year of insurance verification experience preferred.

Pay: Starting pay $18.60 - $21.45 DOE
