Intellectual Property Docket Specialist jobs in Ohio

Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP (Calfee), a full-service corporate law firm with offices in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, New York and Washington, D.C., is seeking an IP Docket Clerk for its Cleveland office.

This position is responsible for executing a wide range of docketing functions, in the Intellectual Property practice group, according to the Firm’s established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will possess a high level of attention to detail, organization, professionalism, as well as observe strict confidentiality of client and Firm matters.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct routine status checks via the USPTO and various foreign patent office websites, make updates to docket, and maintain records of such.
• Process incoming annuity payment confirmation instructions.
• Download daily correspondence from the USPTO and save to internal document management system.
• Process third party vendor invoices for attorney approval.
• Sort and distribute hard copy mail.
• Work with IP Manager and IP Docket Specialists to coordinate incoming and outgoing file transfers.
• Create and generate reports for attorneys, staff and clients.
• Completion of any other projects that may be assigned by the IP Manager.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior IP Docket experience in a law firm or other legal department preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Database management experience.
• Detailed-oriented with good analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Strong organizational and data entry skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
