GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assembly of pre-manufactures aircraft components and installation of aircraft systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of Aircraft Assembly Technician. Each level of Aircraft Assembly Technician has additional duties and responsibilities listed.
Aircraft Assembly Technician I
-
Assist technicians with their associated tasking, including the fabrication of tube assemblies.

Performs component and system level operation checks, and complete subsystem part fitment and installation.

Ability to perform basic maintenance on aircraft as instructed.

Performs required functions for successful completion of aircraft launch and recovery operations.
-
Proficient at assembling and installing aircraft components and systems, including landing gear, flight controls, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Works with manufacturing and engineering teams to identify required installation processes.

Collaborates with team to find solutions for challenges and unexpected obstacles.
-
Contributes to process improvements and development of internal technical documents by providing expertise on aircraft operations tasks.

Maintains accurate recordkeeping of work performed, materials used and accurately logs installed configuration of all components.

Complies with FOD and tool control processes.

Assist maintenance and operation of ground support equipment.
Aircraft Assembly Technician II
-
Works under limited supervision
-
Ability to utilize ground support equipment safely and efficiently for aircraft testing and flight operations
-
Firm understanding of composite structures and components.
-
Able to perform aircraft maintenance on Turbine aircraft with appropriate direction from senior personnel of tech data.
Aircraft Assembly Technician III
-
Works under mimimal supervision.
-
Trains and mentors employees on proper techniques, processes, and procedures.

Assist in aircraft integration of systems and structural components.
Aircraft Assembly Technician IV
-
Lead assembies team on large aircraft integrations and project assemblies, ground testing and groud operations during flight test.

Contributes to process improvements and development of internal technical documents by providing expertise on a wide range of aircraft operations tasks
-
Maintains accurate records of work performed, materials used, and log installed configurations.
-
Assist maintenance with tow and group support operational equipment

Each successive level of Aircraft Assembly Technician builds on the identified knowledge, skills and abilities listed for the previous level(s) Aircraft Assembly Technicians.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must have a valid U.S. Driver License.

Must pass pre-employment drug/background investigation.

Must have working knowledge of a electronic devices and MS office suites.

Must be trustworthy and dependable with the ability to work well under pressure.

Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess good analytical skills.

Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:
Aircraft Assembly Technician I-IV:

Ablilty to read and understand schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.

FAA issued A&P License preferred. Military or other mechanical experience is considered.
-
Operational Flight line experience is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Aircraft Assembly Technician I
-
Requires high school education or equivalent.
Aircraft Assembly Technician II
-
Requires high school education or equivalent.
-
Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in manufacturing.
Aircraft Assembly Technician III
- Requires high school education or equivalent.
-
Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as A&P mechanic working on Turbine and Reciprocating engine aircraft, or equivalent military experience.
Aircraft Assembly Technician IV
-
Requires High school education or equivalent.
-
Minimum of 8 years hands-on experience as A&P mechanic working on Turbine and Reciprocating engine aircraft, or equivalent mechanical or military experience.
-
Must have Operational Flight Line experience.
-
FAA Issued A&P License strongly preferred.
- Ability to decipher schematics, engineering drawings and technical documentation, and author documentation as required.
-
Ability to manipulate CAD software during manufacturing and utilize digital engineering resources to complete manufacturing tasks.
-
Must be well versed in avionics and electrical installations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, (minimum 9 hours)
-
Ability to perform repetitive motion, (pushing, pulling, griping, grasping, kneeling, climbing, stooping, bending, etc.)
-
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
-
May be exposed to high level noise and vibration
-
May be exposed to a non-climate controlled environment
-
May generate, handle, manage, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
-
Must be willing to to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing to travel to and from other Kratos locations for training purposes or work related requirements.
