Interior Aircraft Assembly Supervisor supervises interior fabrication of aircraft including mechanics, the fitting of sub-assemblies to the aircraft, and final aircraft interior production. Ensures compliance with all engineering, FAA, and customer regulations and specifications. Being an Interior Aircraft Assembly Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to Interior Aircraft Assembly Manager. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. SUMMARY: Individuals in this position oversee daily operations, coordinate and schedule workflow, and manage a team within the Electrical Assembly Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures that the department meets daily objectives in terms of safety, on-time delivery of job orders, accurate employee documentation of work completed, quality, and physical inventory
Establishes priorities, availability or capability of employees, parts, material, machines, and equipment
Follows block schedule to ensure completion of job orders in a timely fashion
Ensures all parts are accounted for and properly processed before moving job orders to the next department
Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production
Establishes continuous improvement culture including 5S organization and visual management systems
Safely operates equipment in a steel fabrication environment
Understands proper set-up of department equipment
Ensures that all department employees have necessary materials, parts, and tools to work
Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises Operation Team Lead and the employees within the work cell
Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the company's procedures
Trains employees
Plans, assigns, and directs work
Appraises performance, rewards employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems
Involved in departmental hiring process
QUALIFICATIONS:Proven professionalism, management, and leadership skills
Industry knowledge of the application of company products
Excellent interpersonal abilities and effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to problem solve and collaborate with others inside and outside the company
Ability to work in and promote an atmosphere of teamwork and mutual respect
Knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to a safe work environment
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent direct education from two-year college or technical school preferred
10 years related electrical experience and/or training
Ability to read blueprints and understand geometric tolerances
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for industrial machinery
Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Must be proficient at Microsoft Office products and possess adequate skills to navigate and work with the company's ERP software.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently sit and operate a computer. The employee may be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is an industrial metal fabrication shop with exposure to machinery, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level in the non-air-conditioned work environment is moderate. All required PPE, including steel toe shoes, must be worn and a clean work environment must be maintained.
