Interior Solutions is looking for a client-facing designer who provides production design drawings and services to furniture dealership customers, including site/inventory verifications, programming, space planning, typical development, working/installation drawings, specification and site-to-plan review. Works closely with commercial furniture dealership sales, order entry, project management and installation groups, to ensure accurate plans and specifications, conformance to client’s requirements, customer satisfaction and high-quality project implementation.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Design Process

Create original, or edit existing drawings in CET

Develop specifications, presentations and cost of materials for projects.

Detail small to large projects in CET.

Create aesthetic and functional designs that help boost productivity, increase sales, attract customers and enhance commercial spaces.

Reviews site; conducts field measurements and plan-to-site adherence checks.

Inventories existing product; produces as-built drawings/specifications.

Responsible for interior design factors such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings or equipment, electrical placement and recommendations, installation drawings and reconfiguration.

Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics

Develops finished working drawings for specification and installation; validates plans against construction, electrical engineering and A&D drawing sets; gains customer approvals.

Develops product specifications; double-checks specifications against plans; gets specifications order- entry ready using an electronic specification program, triple-checks order prior to order entry.

Estimate material requirements and costs during budget phase. Assist sales in identifying budget and design intent.

Client-facing and working with sales to close a deal.
Contract Furniture/Design Industry Knowledge

Has basic knowledge of interior design field and current practices

Has a basic understanding of workplace environment issues (ergonomics, technology integration, teaming, alternative office, etc.)

Has some basic knowledge of the dealership’s contract furniture lines, including features/benefits, pricing, application and assembly, specification options and nomenclature, etc.

Has a working knowledge of applicable building codes, ADA regulations, electrical codes, etc.

Understands contract furniture processes, including order preparation, project management, order management and delivery/installation.
Technology & Software
-
Experience working in CAD and CET.

Familiarity with architectural drawing.

Has basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite Software.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in interior design, Computer-aided Drafting or appropriate technical area.
