International Trade Specialist is responsible for coordinating credit and financial activities and obtaining payments for import/export operations. Acts as an advisor on matters of tariffs, markets, and federal and foreign regulations. Being an International Trade Specialist ensures that all filings, documents, and regulatory reporting are completed accurately, in a timely manner, and according to trade laws. Keeps informed of international events and changes to laws and requirements that may impact operations. Additionally, International Trade Specialist may negotiate letters of credit or handle issues with international banks. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The International Trade Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Job Summary: Responsible for monitoring foreign currency due from accounts, maintaining proper balances based on customer transactions and currency fluctuations. Performs various technical support duties including, but not limited to the issuance and maintenance of standby and commercial letters of credit and documentary collections. Negotiate payment under Documentary Collections and Letters of Credit when presented. Handles issues and situations as they arise and make independent decisions. Adhere to department and bank policies and procedures while keeping current with applicable external guidelines and regulations. Promotes an environment of teamwork within the department and across the bank. Represents INTRUST Bank in all they do in the community and is focused on the development of new business relationships. Must maintain strict standards of confidentiality and perform duties in a manner supporting INTRUST’s Character Qualities.

    Essential Functions:

    • All expectations described in the job description’s essential functions are necessary to be successful in this role, performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
    • Monitors foreign currency due from accounts, maintaining proper balances based on customer transactions and currency fluctuations.
    • Provides operational support for the issuance, maintenance, and negotiation of letters of credit and documentary collections.
    • Handle transactions and customer correspondence accurately in an efficient and timely manner.
    • Exercise a willingness to be a resource to lending officers, correspondent banks, and internal departments for foreign exchange rates, letters of credit and documentary collections.
    • Provides support for foreign bank note sales.
    • Maintains foreign correspondent bank network including AML/KYC reviews.
    • Pursue networking and learning opportunities to enhance industry knowledge.
    • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred. Requires 3-5 years of related experience or 2-3 years of previous banking experience. Background in international payments and/or commercial loan operations is preferred.

    Required Skills and Knowledge: Must have ability to prioritize workload by working diligently and being organized and detailed oriented. Some basic accounting knowledge. Good oral and written communication skills are required.

    Required Licenses and/or Certifications: None.

    Physical Demands: Extended period(s) of time may be spent viewing a personal computer, sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. The physical demands necessary for this role should be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

    Working Conditions: Normal office conditions.
