  • SUMMARY

    Plans, organizes, and monitors the receiving, storage, handling, distribution, control, and accuracy of all items received either from suppliers and/or production shops. Ensures a smooth and consistent operation so that parts and supplies are located and distributed to proper departments in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. Coordinates, manages, and improves the use of working capital and inventory management within the business.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervises personnel and administrates procedures for assigned areas such as stockroom, storeroom, receiving and shipping functions.
    • Provides necessary leadership that is associated maintaining a strong inventory management workforce and system. Assists in selecting, training, and developing subordinates. Ensures that personnel know their responsibilities and scope of authority to effectively carry out their functions.
    • Manages, coordinates, and continuously improves the inventory system as well as the capabilities of inventory processes as well as the capability of staff members engaged in material movement & handling, inventory control and inventory record accuracy.
    • Executes the strategic inventory plans and initiatives developed by Supply Chain management in order to achieve corporate objectives.
    • Maintains and controls inventory as required by the sales and operations planning process (S&OP or SIOP), customer requirements, production schedules and corporate inventory management objectives.
    • Prepares reports as needed, which may include forecast estimates and schedules of goods for current and future use, inventory accuracy metrics, availability reporting or other required reports.

    SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of non-supervisory and/or supervisory personnel.
    • Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.
    • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assisting, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Provides ongoing training to applicable staff to develop and encourage their technical and operational performance. Meet with appropriate staff on a timely basis for performance evaluations and goal setting.

    This position includes access or potential access to ITAR and/or EAR technical data. Therefore, candidates will need to qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, or a Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).

    TRAVEL

    Minimal, but may be up to 15% travel required at times.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The ideal candidates should have:
    • Two-year degree or equivalent experience is required. Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university is preferred (Business, Supply Chain, or Technical preferred). APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification or willingness to complete APICS instruction (or equivalent) within two years of employment is preferred.
    • Three (3) years or more of progressive experience in professional Materials position(s) is desired. Cable and electronic component experience desired.
    • Strong Management and Team Building Skills; minimum of (1) year of supervisory experience is required.
    • Strong materials management skills including knowledge of Inventory Control, Transportation/Traffic and Warehouse Management concepts, general Planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) understanding, Transactional Management, Shipping and/or Logistics, Carrier Rate Negotiation as well as critical thinking and problem-solving capability.
    • Willing to obtain or drive forklift or material handling equipment certification/training as needed.
    • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • A team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
    • An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards and a positive professional image.
    • Ability to be flexible and able to function comfortably in a fast paced, constantly changing, and ambiguous environment.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, part drawing and specifications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, suppliers, and employees. Portrays a positive and professional image. Ability to establish relations with a wide range of personalities, cultural backgrounds, and educational levels.
    • Ability to work with general mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to job-related situations.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Advanced knowledge of SAP (preferred) or other ERP systems and the ability to share this knowledge with others.
    • Computer skills – General MS-Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are mandatory; advanced skills in MS Office including MS-Access are beneficial.
