IT Capacity Planner jobs in Burlington, VT

IT Capacity Planner evaluates the organization's data processing and storage needs and develops long-term plans to meet business requirements. Implements policies for network storage system troubleshooting, updating and general maintenance. Being an IT Capacity Planner documents problems and solutions and serves as the point of contact for network capacity related issues. Allocates storage space, plans for future projects or acquisitions, reviews hardware and software configurations and makes suggestions for appropriate storage or backup models. Additionally, IT Capacity Planner may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager. To be an IT Capacity Planner typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Key Responsibilities

    • Provide professional, friendly end-user support to resolve workstation, printing, network, and other computing issues.
    • Provision, repair, upgrade and deploy new or refurbished computers to employees.
    • Perform routine system maintenance and upgrade of operating systems and productivity, security, and communications software.
    • Support and train employees in the use of basic office productivity tools and computing hardware.
    • Maintain and monitor electronic issue ticketing system and IT asset tracking data.
    • Create and maintain IT process documentation and work instructions for IT processes.
    • Plan, coordinate and conduct introductory IT training for newly hired employees.
    • Participate in IT security programs and actively nurture a culture of security awareness.
    • Support AV/conferencing hardware and software and support conference room technologies.
    • Assist with repair and installation of networking equipment.
    • Collaborate with Systems Administrator and other IT team members toIT solve problems and recommend improvements.
    • Prepare and properly dispose of obsolete computer equipment.
    • Actively participate in team and interdepartmental meetings.
    • Actively contribute to departmental and corporate objectives and pursue individual professional development goals.
    • Maintain technical knowledge required to effectively fulfill responsibilities.
    • Other tasks as assigned by the IT Manager.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Demonstrated honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.
    • Possess a positive attitude, friendly disposition, and desire to provide outstanding customer service.
    • Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve common computing issues independently.
    • Knowledge and experience with the use, repair, upgrade and maintenance of computer hardware and software in a business environment.
    • Ability to interact with others in a highly professional, friendly, and constructive manner.
    • Highly developed organizational skills and ability to work independently.
    • Ability to read, write and analyze technical documents.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences in writing and verbally.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and determine when to escalate an issue or seek support. Understands scope of authority and responsibility when making decisions.
    • High School Diploma or GED.


    Desired Skills & Experience

    • 2 years of support or helpdesk experience.
    • CompTIA or Microsoft Certifications related to defined responsibilities.
    • Post-secondary education in the field of Information Technology.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift 20-40 pounds.
    • Ability to work around perfumes and fragrances daily.
    • Sitting for extended periods (8 hours per day)
    • Stretching, reaching, crawling under desks. Occasional use of ladders.
    • Occasional and limited evening and weekend work.

    Working Conditions

    Mostly an office environment (75%).

    Will provide support in a manufacturing environment (25%). Consisting of loud machines and potential physical hazards.
