Rapidly growing site construction company seeks a self-motivated, experienced Controller for a key position on our management team.
The Controller will play a vital role in managing the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, as well as providing strategic planning to assist in and drive the growth and profitability of our company. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong background in financial management, preferably in the construction industry.
If you have exceptional financial/accounting skills, a self-starter and take-charge attitude that enjoys a team environment and has experience with QuickBooks and construction accounting; you may qualify for this position. This position reports directly to the President.
Duties Include:
· Ensure regular maintenance and backups of systems and data is performed
· Supervise staff and ensure application of appropriate internal controls
· Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet and statement of activities, financial accounts reconciliations, and cost allocation
· Timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns, and other required reporting for multiple states
· Month-end / quarter-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies
· Weekly payroll (includes certified payroll)
. Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and oversee external audits
· Oversee cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability
· Daily cash management and accounts payable/receivable operations
· Work with insurance agency to ensure policies are accurately maintained including general liability, workers’ compensation, professional liability and directors' and officers' liability coverages and prepare for audits
. Work with subcontractors to maintain updated information including insurance, W-9s
· Represent organization to banks, financial partners, institutions, auditors, and officials
All other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Experience:
· Five (5) plus years experience in construction accounting and familiarization with WIP schedules
· Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or five (5) years equivalent direct accounting experience
· Verifiable experience using QuickBooks
· Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and bank working knowledge
· Ability to systematize self and others
· Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence
· Expertise in developing banking and other financial lending relationships
· Strong management, organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills
· Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a complete manner
· Strong ability to be detail oriented and work with a goal of precision
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize
· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and QuickBooks
