Quality Assurance Technician
Assures the food safety and specifications of products and processes by enforcing quality policies, procedures, and standards. Establish a basis for regulatory and customer compliance, mitigate risk, and comply with third party audit standards.
This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assists QA Manager in the implementation and improvement of SQF programs, Food Safety Plans, SSOP and SOP compliance.
Ensures compliance to all regulatory standards including FSP (Food Safety Plan), FDA (Food and Drug Administration), SSOP’s (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), etc.
Oversees and continually monitors effectiveness of Sanitation Program.
Communicates frequently with production associates and other company supervisors/managers.
Assists QA Manager with third-party audits, customer audits, and government audits as needed.
Generates ideas to improve quality procedures and participates in development and implementation of new policies, procedures and/or programs. Review existing programs to yield feedback and changes that stimulate continuous improvement. This includes assisting in the evaluation of the implementation of policies or programs to ensure facility is operating based on the established uniform standards.
Validating quality checks against production specifications.
Training included, but not limited to, product quality standards, GMP’s, and Food Safety Issues.
Enforcing Disciplinary Action program as it pertains to quality and food safety issues.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
HACCP or PCQI certification preferred.
At least 1 year of experience in the food manufacturing industry in a quality assurance role.
ADMINISTRATIVE/COMPUTER SKILLS:
Generates professional QA documents in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel
Uses the computer to check email and send email.
Pulls production specifications using internal software programs and generates reports.
SAFETY SKILLS:
Follows Standard Operating Procedures and adheres to safety requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs, at least to waist level.
Frequently uses visual skills to inspect product, conditions, facility, and employees for GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail and accuracy of work.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
Ability to support all production shifts when needed.
Must maintain a valid Driver License and current automobile liability insurance.
