Position Summary:
The Adams State University Computing Services Department provides a wide spectrum of hardware, software, telecommunications, audio-visual and technical support for campus computer and mobile devices. Support includes, but is not limited to: systems design, software and system programming, database applications, web applications and support, helpdesk, desktop, network management, testing, troubleshooting, training and general user support.TEC classroom and student lab design and installation.
Work with the Manager of Support Services to design and implement the most feasible environment that is conducive to learning and teaching.
Use specialized training and guidelines to establish the best design for new and renovated classrooms and labs.
Ensure network connectivity and proper compatibility between devices.
Provide configuration, maintenance, and support for TEC classrooms and student labs.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network connectivity.
A/V troubleshooting procedures and regular maintenance.
Use logs to narrow down issues and concerns.
Create reports to make data driven decisions concerning the labs and classroom technology.
Make decisions with little to no documentation available outside of in-house documentation.
Manage student work-study lab assistants, including training, reviewing hours, approving timesheets, setting coverage schedules and assessing lab assistant performance.
SCCM power user, image troubleshooting and modifications.
Create, update, and implement lab and classroom images along with software.
Attend meetings that pertain specifically to this.
Maintain LabStats.
Ensure LabStats are up to date and change configurations as needed.
Support students with hardware and software in the lab and classroom environments, including ADA hardware and software.
Test, transport, install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain networked printers and copiers for the student computer labs and all faculty and staff departments.
Troubleshoot and configure ports for printers.
Act as the backup for deployment of OS and 3rd party updates to Macintosh clients using Jamf.
Act in the secondary capacity to the IT Support Coordinator for updates to Microsoft Windows operating system (OS) and all Windows and 3rd party patches for campus wide systems.
This role requires the ability to adapt to changing needs, including performing additional duties as assigned that support team goals or organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in CS, CSCI or related field. Related work experience may be considered as a substitute for the Bachelor’s degree requirement.
One year of professional work experience in an IT support field.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose problems, fixing them without assistance of others.
Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegially with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.
Ability to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to remain poised under difficult circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
Have sufficient mobility to perform duties in small spaces involving crouching, stooping, kneeling and physical ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength to lift 30-45 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three or more years professional work experience in an IT desktop computing support field.
Demonstrated technical abilities and effective teamwork skills in a support services team environment.
CompTIA A and Net Certification.
Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to write purchase justifications, train users in complex topics, make presentations to an internal audience, and interact positively with upper management.
Experience with Windows Active Directory, LDAP and group policies.
Experience with MS System Center (SCCM), BitLocker, Jamf or other systems management platforms.
Extensive knowledge of enterprise class desktop software such as Windows 10, Windows 11, Mac OS, antivirus, remote management and troubleshooting, asset management and inventory, and printing.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Gmail.
Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol, routing concepts, and troubleshooting.
Experience with iOS, Android, and mobile device management solutions.
Conditions of Employment:
The position is a full-time, 12-month exempt at-will administrative position with benefits.
Salary and Benefits:
$46,476-52,872 annually; salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience.
